Prevent weight gain causing obesity is very possible, especially with controlling food intake. The study found there are five foods that can and can not make you fat. What?
A study conducted by researchers from Harvard School of Public Health found that reducing the intake of certain foods, sleeping 6 to 8 hours each night, exercise enough and turn off the television, can help reduce weight.
Researchers also found five foods were strongly associated with body weight and five other food-related weight loss on average.
"The message here that the type and quality of food and drink is very important," said Dariush Mozaffarian, MD, DrPH, associate professor of medicine and epidemiology at Harvard School of Public Health, Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School, as reported by WebMD, Saturday (06/24/2011).
In this study, researchers studied 120,000 participants for 4 years. Mozaffarian said that this new study shows how some lifestyle factors, including diet associated with weight loss long term.
The study found there are 5 types of foods that most weight gain and vice versa 5 foods that most can not gain weight, namely:
Foods that are most able to raise the weight
potato chips
Other processed potato
sugary drinks
Red meat is not processed
processed meat
Foods that are least able to raise the weight
vegetable
Cereals
Fruits
Nuts
yogurt
The study results were published in the New England Journal of Medicine.

Do not Spit, If you want to Hide Age
Appearance may conceal a person's age, but not with saliva (saliva). Saliva could accurately guess the age of a person. To the extent that the term should not spit carelessly if you want to hide your age.
Scientists from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) American, managed to find a way to determine a person's age from saliva by chemical modification (methylation process) on one of the four building blocks of human DNA.
The breakthrough is expected to be applicable to use in the next 5 years. These findings will also help to uncover cases of crime such as determining the age of murder victims.
Examined saliva may be taken from anywhere that leave traces of saliva, including former saliva on cigarette butts. Findings have been reported in the online edition of Public Library of Science One journal.
"By simply using saliva samples, we can accurately predict the life of someone without knowing any information of that person," said Dr.. Eric Vilain, director of the center of community development and genetics from UCLA as reported by FoxNews, Sunday (26/06/2011).
In his research, scientists studied the methylation process of saliva in 34 twin pairs. Scientists studying the genome at which DNA methylation is associated with the age process. After identifying two or three genes with age-related methylation process, the researchers then match the results with the actual age of the participants.
Dr. Vilain says the findings are also significant potential to find out how the aging process occurs on the chronology of a person's actual age and how the environment also influence it.
"These findings pave the way for the discovery of drugs that are tailored to the characteristics of someone. Do drugs can slow the aging process is influenced by environmental changes or other dynamic changes, this is really exciting," said Dr Vilain.
Previously, scientists have also found several ways to detect disease using saliva. Saliva test is claimed to better represent the large number of hormones making it suitable to determine the condition of a person's hormones.
However if it is associated with hormones, saliva testing is a weakness because it requires several tests due to people experience fluctuating levels of hormones. For example, when approaching the menopause, women will experience a variety of symptoms due to a decrease in estrogen levels.
But the findings of saliva to determine the age someone is considered quite accurate because the genes examined is someone who is rarely affected by any circumstances.

When a cold or flu, runny nose or runny nose has always been a problem many people. In addition to rest and take medication, there are some foods to avoid so you do not become runny.
Mucus is a slippery substance produced by cells and glands in the body. Although beneficial to protect the body tissues, excessive mucus production can cause nasal congestion, discomfort, and in severe cases can cause breathing difficulties.
Conditions associated with complications such as mucus sinus infection, colds, asthma and cystic fibrosis.
Here are some foods that should be avoided if you do not want to constantly runny nose as reported by the LIVESTRONG, Sunday (06/26/2011):
1. Dairy products
"In most cases, dairy products do not cause formation of mucus. But somehow milk can increase the thickness of the mucus that makes the symptoms more disturbing," explains Dr. James Steckelberg of MayoClinic.
Dairy cows is one of the causes of the most common food allergies. To avoid milk allergy symptoms associated with mucus, consume a non-dairy products, like soy, rice or almond milk.
2. Wheat
Wheat is also one of the causes of the most common food allergies. If symptoms come from wheat allergies, choose wheat-free products such as brown rice, wild rice, oats, barley and corn.
3. Red meat
Red meat such as lamb, beef and ham, contain saturated fat, which is the form of fat that can increase inflammation, leading to the production of mucus.
Spicy and fatty meats, like sausage, bacon and bratwurst, may aggravate the symptoms of runny nose due to increased irritation. To avoid this risk, replace red meat with protein sources, such as beans, lentils, tofu, egg whites and fish.
Cold water fish, like salmon, mackerel, herring provide additional benefits of omega-3 fatty acids, ie healthy fat that may help reduce inflammation.
4. Some fruits and vegetables
Fruits and vegetables are important components of the healthiest diets, because menyedian number of rich in antioxidants, like vitamin C and beta-carotene, which supports the body's ability to resist and recover from infections, including those associated with mucus.
But certain varieties, such as bananas, corn, cabbage, and potatoes, can increase mucus production.

8 Weeks to Vibrant Health for Women: Even Keel - Balance Your Brain Chemistry and Overcome Depression, Anxiety, Memory Loss and More
Depression, anxiety, panic, obsessions, addiction and memory loss are problems faced an increasing number of people. Friends, family and sadly, even doctors, often tell you that self-discipline, "getting over it," or long-term psychotherapy are the ways to kick these mind-states. They will also likely urge you to joins the millions who are taking prescription drugs to "fix" things.
As a psychiatrist, I have treated hundreds of patients with these disorders, and have found that you can change your life, by yourself (or with the help of a good health practitioner), by learning and acting on this information:
1. Eliminate processed foods and simple sugars.
2. Eat high quality complex carbohydrates (whole grains and fruits and vegetables) to keep your blood sugar balanced; a source of good protein like fish, fowl, or meat, to provide amino acids to make neurotransmitters; and essential fats, like the ones in cold water fish (salmon, mackerel), called "brain food" for good reason (both fat and protein)
3. Have a regular exercise program.
Address Depression Naturally
People who are depressed are usually deficient in mood-stabilizing serotonin, noradrenaline or dopamine, brain chemicals derived from the amino acids tryptophan and tyrosine.
To make serotonin, your brain needs the essential amino acid, tryptophan, which is found in protein-rich foods like turkey, chicken, cottage cheese, avocados, bananas and wheat germ. Eating more of these foods can certainly help, especially with a small amount of carbohydrate that helps transport this amino acid into the brain. This is one reason why you might crave sugary foods in the evening, when you're low in serotonin.
Taking a 5-hydroxyryptopan (5-HTP) or tryptophan supplement can help your brain manufacture more serotonin. Tyrosine and phenylalanine will help produce dopamine and noradrenaline, the focusing and motivating brain chemicals, and are found in my FOCUS formula.
To help your brain make more of the anxiety-relieving neurotransmitter, GABA, take glutamine, theanine, or taurine. My CALM Natural Mind product contains these amino acids, along with necessary co-factors. For sleep, added valerian helps (as in my Nightly CALM), or maybe some 5 HTP or melatonin.
Other supplements that may help relieve depression and anxiety include St. John's wort, SAM-e (s-adenylmethionine), and the adaptogen, rhodiola.
Depression and anxiety can also be caused by a wide variety of disease conditions and imbalances, including anemia, blood sugar imbalance, adrenal fatigue, sex hormone imbalances, and hypothyroidism.
As a psychiatrist, I have treated hundreds of patients with these disorders, and have found that you can change your life, by yourself (or with the help of a good health practitioner), by learning and acting on this information:
- The underlying case is almost always a deficiency in certain nutrients that nourish the brain and promote proper function.
- You can often correct these imbalances naturally.
- Serotonin is the "happy" and calming brain chemical that can improve your mood and help you to sleep well.
- Dopamine and noradrenaline are the "feel-good" neurotransmitters, helping you feel energized, focused, motivated, and in control.
- GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) is the "cool" neurotransmitter, calming you down during periods of stress.
- Adrenaline, made in the adrenal glands, is the "motivator," stimulating you and helping you respond to stress.
- Endorphins promote that blissful feeling, a sense of euphoria often found in runners' high, or even, paradoxically, in emergencies and after an injury.
- Acetylcholine enhances memory, cognition, alertness, and concentration.
- Melatonin (actually, a hormone) affects your ability to sleep soundly and to dream. It helps you to keep in tune with the cycles of nature by responding to seasonal shifts and regulating your inner clock for day and night, known as your circadian rhythm.
